what?
Swaptree is a new and innovative way for people to easily
trade the books, cds, dvds and video games they are finished with, for the ones
they want, all for free. With swaptree, your collections stop gathering dust
and can be used to acquire other items you want. By offering to trade a single
item, you can choose from thousands of books, dvds, cds, and video games that
you can receive in exchange. Best part: everything is free, you only pay
shipping.
why?
After noticing that:
-
their mothers were frequently trading books with their network of friends
-
their nephews played a new $55 dollar video game for a week or so, and then
never again
-
their shelves (and everyone else's shelves that they knew) were filled with
hundreds of CDs and DVDs that weren't going to see the inside of a CD or DVD
player anytime soon
-
the price of college textbooks had gotten out of hand,
the founders of swaptree thought there had to be a better way to acquire the
media items that they wanted. There wasn't a better way then, but there is now.
Swaptree allows people to acquire items in a way that is cost-effective,
friendly to the environment, and rooted in the basic notion of sharing. Furthermore, because it's free, it makes it easy to discover authors,
musicians, films and offbeat games that you might not otherwise have.
